-Middle school: Ms. Willis' Class Adding Decimals http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?i=40777400&id=292662548

- Elementary: Mrs. Bradley's Kindergarten Class Making Pulley's http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?i=41616476&id=106439536

The Math Tutor DVD is a great tool. The teacher is a little boring, and his introduction is a bit lengthy. I think this would help high school students struggling with math.

Social bookmarking in the Classroom

Social bookmarking can be a great thing for both students and teachers. Teachers can share links they find helpful and tag them under the appropriate subject. Tagging the websites will make for easier access to certain subjects. With social bookmarking you do not have to worry about losing the address. Students can look at websites their teachers bookmark to help them in research or homework.

Wikihow in the classroom

When Wikihow is supervised it is a great way for students to learn how to do something they do not know how to do. This requires the children to follow directions and practice these skills. Wikihow gives great step-by-step instructions for teacher and students from a variety of interest areas.

Pros and Cons of blogging in education

Blogging in education should be moderated by the teacher. It is a good way for students to comment or ask questions about the assignment outside of class. Teachers use blogs to post helpful websites, homework, school events, notes, etc. Parents can also access the blog to see what is happening in their child's classroom. If the teacher does not moderate the comments, they may not relate to the purpose of the blog. Some educational blog examples are: www.scienceeducationpartnership.org/41 and http://missrusselllovesmath.blogspot.com/.

Why I am choosing to become a teacher

I was originally a pre-vet major, but I realized that my heart was actually with the kids. I chose to become a teacher because I love working with children. I love watching children discover new things in life. All children need a positive influence in their lives, and I believe I can be that influence. I work in an after-school program and have seen that the children want you to be not only a teacher but also a "friend", someone they can talk to and rely on. I had several teachers that I consider a "friend" because I know they are there to lend a listening ear for all of their students.
